Support Group for Perinatal Loss facilitated by Crystal Gurney & Laurie Ganberg
Pregnancy and infant loss can be an incredibly painful and isolating experience. Our group provides a warm, empathic, and brave space for you to connect with others and yourself. There's no one right way grieve and no matter where you are in your grief journey you are welcome here.
Crystal and I have a shared passion for fostering community and providing compassionate support and we're excited to create this group. We've experienced firsthand the transformative power of community during times of loss and we're dedicated to creating an environment where you're free to express yourself openly, without judgment, gently uncovering the emotions that need acknowledgment and release.

Who are you?
Here's a funny anecdote: Crystal and Laurie both live north of Seattle, but actually met five years ago in Houston, TX at a conference. We were heading to the airport at the same time and ended up getting lunch with another PNWer before our flights.

Crystal Gurney (she/her) is a community builder, artist and whole-hearted listener. For many years she supported families through the birth experience as a doula, and she continues to support people as they transition to parenthood through perinatal mental health support and birth trauma & loss support. Crystal is a GPS (Group Peer Support) facilitator and trainer and is trained in Hakomi and Birthing From Within's birth story listening model. She deeply believes that compassionate witnessing of ourselves and our story is a key part of the healing and growth process. Crystal uses art, poetry, somatics, and mindfulness practices in her groups and loves helping people process their big thoughts and emotions through creative practices, connection, and community.
Laurie (she/her) is a therapist who's been working with adults in the reproductive health sphere for the last twenty years. She's been privileged to support families experiencing grief and loss and has been supported by so many folks in her own encounters with loss. Laurie believes wholeheartedly in the importance of community to lessen isolation and to support new connections with others and within ourselves, and loves offering groups to create those communities.
"You will never be yourself again. Not in the way you think of "yourself" as a concept. You will always long for what you have lost. But you will also be countless other things you don't know about yet.”
